Frequently asked questions

What is fractional economic development?

It means getting experienced economic development help part-time or for a defined project, without hiring a full-time staff member. O&G Consulting works alongside your staff, board or project team for as long as you need.

Who does O&G Consulting serve?

North Carolina towns and counties (roughly 2,000 to 50,000 residents), chambers of commerce and regional councils of government. We also support economic development consultancies, planning firms and real estate developers that need extra capacity.

Do you help communities recovering from Hurricane Helene?

Yes. Communities rebuilding their local economies after Hurricane Helene are one of the groups we work with, through strategic planning, grant support and added capacity.

What kind of work do you take on?

Strategic planning, business retention and expansion, business recruitment and site readiness, grant support, and board and stakeholder facilitation. We also provide subcontract and project support for firms with more work than people.

How do you handle conflicts of interest?

Robby Carney is an elected Town Commissioner for the Town of Cornelius, so O&G Consulting does not accept engagements from any party with business before the Town of Cornelius or its boards. We do not provide legal advice, and every potential engagement gets a conflict-of-interest review before any work begins.
